You asked Elizabeth Lennox and she answers!

When I first approached Elizabeth Lennox  and asked if she would be willing to answers questions submitted for her she didn’t hesitate to say yes.  She said it sounded like fun and was an open book.  Her enthusiasm and gung-ho attitude told me she had an adventurous soul just as many of her female characters are written.  I also found Ms. Lennox has a wicked sense of humor!  I had so much fun getting to know Ms. Lennox through our emails and can truly say she is a wonderful, funny, helpful and very kind person.

Thank you Elizabeth Lennox for taking the time to answers the great questions that were submitted.

These are the questions submitted and Elizabeth’s answers.  I hope you enjoy them!

Let me start off by saying I love your books! Especially your sheik books. Thank you for the opportunity to ask a question. I have two. 1. When will your next sheik book be out? 2. What is the most important lesson you’ve learned to date about writing?

  • My next sheik book will be part of the Montana Men series.  I know – where’s the connection with Montana and tall, dark, arrogant sheiks, right?  Well, Droon had to run away from his homeland – his aunts were trying to kill him so that their children could take over the country.  Droon ran away and discovered Samantha and Charlie DeBron’s ranch (Samantha and Charlie’s romance will be a free novella coming out in October).  Eventually, he must leave Montana and go back to reclaim his throne.  His story will be told in the series along with Vince, Joe, Halley and Fleur.
  • The most important lesson? Goodness, I don’t know about THE most important lesson.  There are so many things I’ve learned and some of the lessons have been hard to take.  I think the most important lesson was to avoid reading any reviews until I’ve finished (or at least started) writing another story.  I’ve received many good reviews (thank you!) but the negative reviews really get to me.  Sometimes they are pretty harsh and I could have become discouraged by some of them.   So I tell all new writers to avoid reading reviews until they are at least halfway through their next story.  Always keep writing – no matter what people say.

Carrie Marie

What is the hardest part of writing for you? What’s the easiest?

The hardest part of writing would definitely be the editing process.  Most people don’t realize that writing the story is only about twenty-five percent of the effort.  The next several weeks or months will be editing, polishing, re-editing, tweaking your story.  You’re never really “done” with a book.  There’s always another edit that can be done.

What is the easiest?  The beginnings!  Goodness, those beginnings are fun to write and just fly out of my fingers.  I love writing the beginnings – all the sexual tension, the intense awareness, the instant lust…it is so much fun!!

Shellie

How do you come up with all of your ideas for stories?

I get asked this question a lot.  In fact, it is always the second question people ask me.  And the answer is – I don’t know.  I always have a story in my mind.  It might not be a viable plot.  I might start it and realize it is stupid or unworkable.  But yes, I always have a story ready to go.  I can sit in a coffee shop, stare at the other customers and come up with a story about them.  Driving down the street?  Music on?  Story pops into my mind.  Love it!!

Ruth

Have you ever written a story that we haven’t read? Are there any that you have written that you don’t like?

Goodness yes!!  LOL – I have dozens, maybe even hundreds of stories that didn’t work out.  Or stories that I started and abandoned because a better idea came along and I just forgot about the previous one.  It is crazy – but yeah.  Lots and lots of stories.

And then there are the stories which I know are horrible.  The Montana Men was going to be a six book series – six siblings, six stories (plus the parents).  But Rico’s story just didn’t flow properly.  I’ve started writing his story about seven times, one of which is about thirty thousand words.  It isn’t good enough.  I will come back to it in a few months or years and work on it again – because I like the premise for the story – I just couldn’t make it work correctly.

My sister is an English professor and she said that’s one of the hardest lessons a writer has to learn – just let go of something that isn’t working.  Sometimes that means deleting thousands of words.  Yes, that is heartbreaking, but it has to happen.

I won’t release a story that isn’t good.  If I don’t like it, you ladies won’t see it.

Liz

Have you ever written any other genre besides Contemporary Romance? If not, would you want to? What genre would it be?

I have written some erotica and I have plans to write a romantic series with magical elements to it.  I don’t know when that will work itself out in my brain, but yes.  More is coming.  I also have some ideas about a series for young adults, telling the stories of pre-teens or teenagers, dealing with some of the issues they are facing.  Again, I don’t know how that will work itself out, but that is another possibility.

I’d also like to challenge myself to write romantic mysteries but contemporary romance is still my favorite.

Wynde B

Do you have a favorite time of the year to write? If so, why?

Interesting question – I’ve never thought about that.  But now that you’ve brought it up, the fall.  If you have ever been to Washington, D.C. in the summer, you know that the heat and humidity here is oppressive!  It bogs one down like a thick, wet blanket (filled with mosquitoes!).  So summers are hard for me – I struggle to write, to meet my deadlines.

But when September rolls around this area, the humidity lessons, the heat seems to cool down and the world is a different place.  I seem to com back to life in the fall.  My mind is freed up, my body feels better and the stories just fly through my mind.  I can sit outside (as long as the spiders stay away) and enjoy the sunshine while I write and life is good!

Sally

I love the way you always create your heroines with a strong sense of self. Even if they have…issues. What is your motivation behind this? IF there is one

LOL – I think that we all have “…issues”.  I definitely do!  Just ask my husband or family!

But all the women in my stories – and the men – have issues that they need to resolve in order to make way for love.  The women are all strong, all have good careers and challenge the world.  Or at least, that’s my intent.  Why?  Because women are strong.  Women all have issues, but we step up and get done what needs to get done.  Period.  We don’t mess around, we don’t wait for someone else to fix our problems.  We just…get it done – whatever “it” is.

My books reflect the power that all of us have inside of us.  Yeah, we might not like the issues we have to deal with.  And there are many times my characters just want to grab a bag of chips and sit on the couch to avoid the world.  Don’t we all?

But in the end, they face up to their issues and get them resolved.  So do you, right?

Miranda

I can’t wait for your Bold Alaskan Men Series. Have you ever been to Alaska? Is this what motivated this series?

Yes!  I went to Alaska twice – in 2015 and 2014.  I loved that state!  It was incredible!  So the whole series is based off of both those visits.  The oceans, the whales, the crazy things that Alaskans do – like bore tide surfing, skiing down impossible mountain sides, living in a world that goes dark for all but a couple of hours during the winter…!  (Apparently, it is harder to get used to the endless light in the summer months – who knew?!)

Loved Alaska!  And in addition – my family and I flew into Seattle in order to get to Alaska – so there’s a series based in that city as well!  Oh – I love the northwest area!  So completely different from Washington, D.C.!  And cooler!  (except when I’m there – I tend to bring heat wherever I go!)

Katelyn

What books are YOU reading right now?

I just finished Aziz Ansari’s Modern Romance (and got a great idea for a plot out of that book!) and Malcom Gladwell’s “Outliers” – there will be a funny story about this one in a book too!  Over 4th of July weekend, I read Janet Evanovich’s “The Job” (great series, by the way) and I was honored to read (ahead of the release) Liz Scott’s “You Promised Me Forever” – awesome story!

Skye

Which writers inspire you? How?

This is going to sound crazy, but good and bad writers inspire me.

When I write a good story, I want to do it better.  I want to twist the plot around so it is more interesting or write better dialogue, better emotional connections.  I love good stories from fabulous authors because they challenge me, inspire me to write better, to set my standards higher.

But I also love bad stories because the writer might have an awesome plot, but she or he might completely fail to live up to the idea.  I want to do the idea better, to make the plot more complicated or more emotionally compelling.  I want to make the characters more real.

So good or bad, I’ll use that to emphasize my strengths or challenge my weaknesses.  I love a writer with good words or with a twist that really grabs me.

And readers – believe it or not – readers inspire me!  When I read the reviews from you ladies, that creates a lot of pressure to do it again, to write better, to replicate a good story.  I never take my readers for granted.  I know how easy it is for romance readers to find a new favorite.  I currently have 4.5 star ratings on almost all of my books and that’s a huge amount of pressure to maintain!  I won’t release any book I don’t think is good enough because I don’t want to lose that average rating.  It is incredibly important to me that my readers like the stories I put out there.

Barbara

Who does your sexy covers!

I do!  I search around for photos on the various photography sites until I find just the right picture.  Sometimes I’m sitting on my bed with my husband reading next to me, flipping through all of the buff guys and my husband just grunts occasionally.  He’s a sweet guy – and endures all of it!

Thank you all for taking part in this blog spot with Elizabeth Lennox.  Remember, her newest book of charming alphas and amazing women has just released today.  The Billionaire’s Beautiful Mistake, book 1 in the Bold Alaskan Men Series.

Cyborg Sizzle Series by Cynthia Sax

releasing rage

Amazon Link:   http://amzn.to/28MoAjJ

I found a new series while browsing the free books on Amazon.  Cynthia Sax has a Cyborg series with the first book, Releasing Rage currently free.  This is an amazing sci-fi erotic romance series.  If you like blood and gore with cyborgs that will not blink to committing any type of torture as they are the ultimate killing machine then you need to read this series.

Cynthia Sax has written of Cyborgs that have been manufactured for years beginning with the A series where the skin is gray and the skeletal frame is extremely heavy to the K series which looks more human and smaller.  The humans that control them are cruel and do unthinkable acts on the Cyborgs because to them they are just things or machines.  The Cyborgs are caged and tortured.  They are “decommissioned” the slightest emotion such as smiling or showing any weakness.

But the humans who made them and have control over them made a mistake….they cyborgs can feel, are intelligent, can communicate and they are plotting their escape.  Because this is a romance as well, you will find that as they find their freedom they also find love with non-Cyborgs.  There may even be a surprise in store for those couples.

This is the reading order to the series:

  1. Releasing rage         Published August  2015
  2. Breathing Vapor     Published November 2015
  3. Being Green     Published December 2015  (available only by signing up for Cynthia Sax’s newsletter   http://tasteofcyn.com/2014/05/28/newsletter/  )
  4. Crash and Burn     Published   February 2016
  5. Defying Death    Published  April 2016
  6. Chasing Mayhem   Coming August 2016
  7. Ace and Thrasher’s story- Title TBD Coming November 2016

I was so hooked with Releasing Rage, I also in the same day read Breathing Vapor and Crash and Burn.  I did sign up for the newsletter but have not yet received the copy of Being Green which according to Cynthia Sax’s website, should be read after Breathing Vapor.  I can say that during one scene of Crash and Burn I needed a box of tissues.  The author wrote with such emotion that as a reader I was drawn in and couldn’t help but feel the pain in the scene.  To me this is a great writer if the reader can get that involved with the storyline.  I am looking forward to continuing this series and have already formed my list of the characters I would love to see get their own story.  There is so much blood and gore alongside extremely HOT, HOT, HOT Sex!

For those who have read and enjoyed Laurann Dohner’s Cyborg’s series, I am sure that you will enjoy this one. I would encourage a visit to the author’s website where you will be able to learn a little more about the world of the Cyborg such as their nanocybotics and the differences between the A-K series.  Cynthia Sax’s website is: http://cynthiasax.com.

The Cyborgs who were once enslaved are now free and fighting to keep that freedom along with the joy of love and family.

The American Heir: The Billionaire Duke#4 by Gina Robinson Coming June 22, 2016

Amazon Link:   http://amzn.to/1Umhe3C

It is almost here, the exciting last installment of the Billionaire Duke, The American Heir.  With surprising twists and unveiled secrets we will find out if Riggins and Haley will have their happy ending.

At the end of book 3, Rose, that manipulative British wench, has spilled the news of Haley’s pregnancy to the press and Riggins who has just come to the realization that he loves Haley sees the broadcast only to believe Haley meant to trap him.  After throwing a tantrum to outshine any little British Lord or Lady, Riggins confronts Haley with his anger.  He wasn’t expecting to Haley direct her own anger back at him.

If you remember that nasty little business of the DNA tests that were done on Haley and Rose and a hint of an issue with the results, well let’s just say Haley has found out what that issue was and believes Riggins knew all along.  While remaining in England, Haley has done her own research and has found that she is in fact the great-granddaughter of the Dead Duke and is actually the rightful American Heir.  She has also come to realize she is more like the Dead Duke than she thought possible and that it isn’t Riggins who is to solve the clues he left but that they were left for her.

The clues Haley has become fascinated with are all coming together.  The Dead Duke never did anything without a reason and he did have a heart he used to help those he cared for.  As she becomes part of the community, she learns many secrets which push her to the discovery that will help identify her sister’s twin and hopefully lead to her cure.  Haley also discovers that there is someone following her and believes that the tower is haunted, but no one believes her.

As twists turn what they thought was known into something new and secrets are being revealed, Haley and Riggins have only each other they can trust if they can set aside their suspicions and admit they have actually done what the Dead Duke wanted…fallen in love with each other.  When proof of Haley’s stalker becomes real and Riggins runs in to protect Haley and their unborn child, it may be Riggins who needs saved when his past makes a very connection to his present. When an accident occurs, Riggins must do everything to save Haley.  In the end, will the Dead Duke win?

In this serial, we had only four books which compared to the Switched at Marriage (Justin and Kayla) series in which there were 7.  I truly enjoyed that series but it was long.  I thought having the story neatly tied up within 4 books was great!  I can’t get enough of Gina Robinson’s sexy serial romances.  I also ( as mentioned to the author and on a previous blog) think it would be fantastic to have a story based on the Dead Duke’s life. If you haven’t tried one of Gina Robinson’s serials you are missing out.  I recommend beginning with the Switched at Marriage serial in which you meet her characters through Justin and Kayla’s romance.  It is where you will meet Riggins and Lazar who is the next in line for his story.

Amazon Link:   http://amzn.to/1qHCI34

Aurora Rose Reynolds knows how to write about alpha males.  The Mason men are the hottest alpha males with their caveman gruffness and oh so sexy I’m going to cherish you to the day I die attitude!  And the women are feminine with steel cores.  HOT! HOT! HOT!

The Until Series began with the Mason brothers….Asher (http://amzn.to/1WMOZ3V) which is currently free at Amazon, Trevor (http://amzn.to/1s7SO7g), Cash (http://amzn.to/1Vh75du) and Nico (http://amzn.to/1Vh75du).  These men are scorching hot!  No one messes with their women…ever! This family is strong, sexy and so addictive.  The family prophecy is that each Mason male will find his soul mate and when he does it just hits him…..Boom!  When they do find those women there will never be another woman for them.

Next came the Until Her and Until Him series in which their children are now grown and burning up the sheets….I mean pages! The Mason prophecy has been thought to only follow the males but in the Until Her series the women are just as blindsided.  Aurora Rose seems to keep things interesting for her readers as she is so far altering her release dates between the Until Her and Until Him series.

In Until July, http://amzn.to/20xahRF, we have the story of Asher and November’s oldest daughter.  July has grown up to be a veterinarian and meets Wes Silver.  Wes is very much like Asher in attitude which July finds annoying and yet comforting. July and Wes have a unique way of meeting and from there the relationship just builds.  Until Jax, http://amzn.to/1sOzr3M, came next. Jax is very much like his father, Cash but more intense.  His attraction to Ellie proves to him that she is his boom, but he has a hard time convincing her of that.

RELEASED TODAY!!!!

Until June, http://amzn.to/1qHCI34, is another daughter of Asher and November’s.  This story is slightly different from the others as the threat to June and Evan is not an outside force but the demons that haunt Evan himself.  June and Evan met in Alabama and secretly married.  Soon after Evan enlisted in the Marines and was shipped to Afghanistan.  Upon his return home, June is shocked when she is served with divorce papers with no reason given.  With her heart shattered she moves home and begins attempts to put her life back in order, but fails miserably as Evan is who she wants.  When possible danger surrounds her, June is surprised that one of her cousin’s men is assigned to guard her and it is none other than Evan.  Evan must fight the beast inside him if he wants to save June and make her his again.  With her protective walls high, June is scared to trust and love Evan again because she doesn’t know if she can survive that kind of hurt once more.  Will they both risk everything for the chance to have it all?

Next up is Until Ashlyn, Cash and Lilly’s daughter as well as Sage, Nico and Sophie’s son.

Once you pick up one of these books you will be hooked and wanting more!  Aurora Rose is an extremely talented author who will draw you in until you have finished the story.  Once that happens you can’t wait for the next book to come out.

Chakana:Encounter in the Sacred Valley by W.E. Lawrence

chakanaimage

Chakana is sure to ignite a thrill seeking, page turning adventure for any history buff or Indiana Jones enthusiast.  A story that is very similar to the treasure seeking Indiana Jones in which the enemies are those of the Nazi regime and ruthless art smugglers.

Our hero is James Fleming a British spy trying to infiltrate the art smuggling ring near Peru in order to find how the Nazi are gaining treasure used to fund their movement.   While undercover James finds himself rescuing a young woman from his past…..one he owes his own life to.  She also happens to be the one he never forgot!

Kate Rhodes is a policewoman from Ohio who is suspended from the force just about the time she receives a mystery package from her brother, Nicholas Rhodes, who is leading an archeological dig in Peru.  Following her brothers directions, she takes the artifact to a local professor and friend, Dr. Charlie.  Kate and Dr. Charlie decide to go to Peru and when they get there they are soon immersed into the world of art smugglers and corrupt police. As Kate is being chased by the bad guys, she is rescued by a man that seems familiar and is shocked when his identity is revealed.

When James and his new allies (Kate, Nick and Dr. Charlie) decide to locate the lost treasure before the enemies get it, they never knew they would be challenged with such danger and intrigue from a society long dead.  As Kate and James follow the clues they find themselves wishing they could be together but knowing their lives are meant to go in different directions.  Knowing they must sacrifice their own dreams for the sake of thousands of lives, Kate and James race against time to find the treasure in order to keep the Nazi’s from winning.

I wasn’t sure what to expect exactly with this story as I have never read anything by this author. I was captivated by the adventure and quickly associated it with Indiana Jones but British style!  It was interesting to read such a strong female character from a male writer….points to the author!  I also noticed the author placed emphasis on the psychological issues for the characters.  By this I mean he explains the emotional reasoning behind some of the actions portrayed or perhaps those not taken.  The characters were all well done and enjoyed.  The story kept my attention until I finished the last page.  I am looking forward to reading more books by the author.

I received my copy through Netgalley in exchange for my review.

In Safe Hands by Leslie North

Insafehands

Leslie North has brought us another fantastic series, Safe House Unit.  In this series, we have elite men who protect those who are in trouble.  I love the suspense she has in this new series.  In the past, Leslie North has written sexy alpha men who were rulers and business men with women who more than equaled them.  In this series, you once again read about those types of men and women but the added suspense is wonderful.  It is almost as if I am reading a different author as the style of writing has taken on a new feeling but yet remains true to the author.

This story is about an ex-detective who served the force until he had a shocking, horrific experience that he couldn’t move past.  When the Russian Mafia ambushes him and his partner, leaving the partner dead, Damian Stone’s pain and nightmares leave him a man damaged and more outwardly descriptive of his last name.  He leaves the force to work for an organization that protects those such as Alexa Volkov.  Damien wasn’t expecting his past to come barreling to his present with this assignment, but that is exactly what happens.  Will he consider Alexa his enemy or is there a chance she will be his savior?

Alexa Volkov is a Russian Mafia princess and her father is Damien Stone’s  enemy.  When Alexa’s Mother is killed because of her father’s business, she decides to turn evidence against him.  Entering the witness protection program, Alexa finds herself under the protection of Damien Stone.  Her first reaction is that he was a dirty cop, but when her family tattoo sparks his anger, she finds that his reasons for leaving the force are connected to her own father.

As the situation turns deadly for both of them, Damien and Alexa find themselves fighting the men coming after Alexa to keep her quiet as well as a ghost from Damien’s past.  They are also fighting their attraction to each other and the differences in their individual lives.

I love the constant questions of who can be trusted, who is the bad guy and how will Damien and Alexa end.  As mentioned before, I love this new style of romantic suspense the author has going.  I felt the change to this style began with the Slade Security series and seems to  be getting better.

I absolutely recommend this new series and I look forward to the next book.  I am hopeful that their will be one regarding Samson’s character.
